Endangered Species Day: Cause Commerce

Endangered Species Day

On May 15, 2020, we celebrate Endangered Species Day through the continuous rehabilitation of our endangered and threatened sea turtles. Since Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) monitors one of the most densely populated sea turtle nesting beaches in the world, it is our responsibility to ensure the conservation of our sea turtle patients.

As a free-admission Center, our nonprofit operates through daily door donations, limited paid experiences, and our retail outlets. While achieving our mission through four core areas – conservation, education, rehabilitation and research – we also leverage our retail outlets to help generate funds for our sea turtle patients that require critical care.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center provides critical care for over 100 sea turtles and 1,000 hatchlings each year.

This framework allows us to promote a sustainable lifestyle while saving the lives of sick, injured or stranded sea turtles. As a state-of-the-art sea turtle hospital and ocean conservation hub, we are committed to protecting sea turtles and their habitats.

Through our retail efforts, we invite supporters to follower their inner compass, like our global migratory sea turtles, and live a more sustainable lifestyle. Our retail efforts encourage supporters to purchase items to generate awareness for sea turtle and ocean conservation while helping provide care for our current sea turtle patients.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center celebrates Endangered Species Day by promoting sustainable alternatives to single-use items.

Through cause-driven commerce, our supporters help us make a difference in the world of conservation. With every purchase, you are directly supporting LMC’s lifesaving work for sea turtles and ocean conservation. This Endangered Species Day, opt for more sustainable alternatives to support our 20 plus sea turtle patients!

Saving Sea Turtles on Endangered Species Day

To celebrate wildlife conservation, make a vow to replace common single-use items in your home with sustainable items or purchase an item on our online store to help heal our more than 20 sea turtle patients needing critical care. While our Center receives patients with various injuries and ailments, our Center has documented that nearly 100 percent of sea turtles that arrive to our Center have ingested marine debris or plastic pollution. Follow your inner compass towards ocean conservation by selecting items from our Choice Matters program and creating positive change in your own life. Celebrating endangered species isn’t a day, it’s a lifestyle.

Sip Sustainably

One leading cause for the declining health in sea turtles are microplastics, which are often mistaken as food. With quick observation, anyone is soon to realize that microplastics are often found in our everyday items.

But little changes – such as ditching the plastic straw and sipping sustainably – has the ability to protect our oceans and marine life, in exchange for more mindful options such as hay, stainless steel, bamboo straws and more.

If straws aren’t your M.O. to begin with, check out our que collapsible bottles. This item is the ideal travel bottle to slip in your gym bag or to take with you for any of your globetrotting adventures!

Wear Your Support

Sometimes it’s simply what you wear that makes a statement. Especially when it’s rescue apparel from LMC’s gift shop.

Made out of 100% pre-shrunk cotton, this sea turtle rescue long sleeve unisex tee is a go-to to bring sea turtles in style and in the conversation. Make it one of your purchases this Endangered Species Day!
